ID: exh48623b

The first image is an anterior orientation of the area of focus, the left hip. The second image shows the normal bone tissue of the femoral head and acetabulum in cross section. For comparison, the next image shows avascular necrosis of the femoral head with collapse into the acetabulum. The fourth image shows the incision into the left hip form a lateral view, along with the removal of the femoral head. Then the acetabular and femoral prosthetic devices are depicted being inserted into the joint space. Finally, the post-operative condition is shown in a frontal cut-away view.
