Endoscopic Sinus Surgery with Left Orbit Damage - Medical Illustration, Human Anatomy Drawing
This stock medical exhibit shows endoscopic sinus surgery with left orbit damage in a series of illustrations. The first illustration shows the pre-operative condition, including an anterior view of the sinuses within the skull: the frontal sinus, ethmoidal sinus, sphenoidal sinus, maxillary sinus and the nasal cavity. The second illustration shows the normal anatomy of the skull in a coronal section of the head, including the maxillary sinus, ethmoidal sinus, left and right nasal cavities, medial rectus muscle and the lamina papyracea. The third illustration shows the normal anatomy of the skull in a cross-section, including the medial rectus muscle, lamina papyracea and ethmoidal sinuses. The fourth illustration shows the intra-operative condition, in which an endoscope is inserted through the nasal cavity to debride the ethmoidal sinuses. The fifth illustration shows an intra-operative complication, in which the medial rectus muscle is injured, resulting in hemorrhaging. The bleeding forces the eye to protrude (exophthalmos).
