This medical exhibit illustrates seven steps of a frontoparietal craniotomy with the evacuation of the subdural hematoma. The exhibit begins with an orientation of the incision. The second large image illustrates the placement of bur holes and removal of the bone flap. An inset reveals the subdural hematoma and also an extensive network of emissary arteries and veins. The next four images depict the coagulation of bleeding arteries, the evacuation of hematoma, the application of the dura patch and the skull closure. Two actual pre-operative and post-operative photographs are included as well.
