This medical exhibit begins with one image illustrating the irrigation and debridement of the open wound overlying the fracture of the left proximal fibula. This image shows large volumes of fluid injected into this open wound to cleanse the site. Also, the key steps of the application of the bilateral external fixators including the placement of the fixation pins in the femurs and tibias and the placement of the bars connected to these pins spanning the fracture sites are shown. Inset views of post-operative films are included showing the external fixation hardware in place.
